VALENTINE’S DAY TO CONSOLIDATE AND REKINDLE LOVE

It is not a curse to say that so many of us looking forward to having a date today, Valentine’s day may not have any, while a few who have been living their normal lives, ‘enjoying life to the fullest’ without bordering about having any date on Valentine’s day would end up having three or more dates.

My reason is that lovers’ day is not a day for meeting a new date, but a day to consolidate and rekindle existing relationships; this is not to say that people are not going to fall in love today Valentine’s Day.

There is a saying, “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” by Robert Brault. The most precious things of life are mostly free: sleep, breathe, warmth, water, family and friendship, but most often we over look these things chasing shadows. Let’s focus more on family and friendship.

Friendship and Family

Friendship becomes more serious when we start appreciating and reciprocating what the other person is offering freely as a result of trust and willingness to give. Mutual understanding emanates from initiating rapport; it is a gradual process aside what some people believe to be ‘love at first sight’. It is natural not to be open to people we perceive as total strangers, but as we tend to familiarize with them, we begin to open up and friendship sets in. How about when relationships grow cold as a result of over familiarity? That is where true love sets in.

To truly love someone requires high level of creativity, which demands that one has to become a changed person. You have to become remarkably different in a sense that you could do something that ordinarily you cannot do; our emotions react to actions emanating from what we are thinking from our past experiences. These neurological changes tend to affect our outlooks and dressing pattern towards rewarding the person we are thinking about with or without knowing it.  These actions become obvious when we put on our best cologne; the men want to put on their best haircut, while the women put on the best makeups. Our physical disposition make us appealing to the persons we want to impress, but the question is, who do we occupy our memory with when we think and remember, because we end up either attracting the right persons or end up with the wrong persons.

EXCERCISE

Let us engage our minds with some little exercise: pick up a plain sheet and pen and make a list of:
  • Your entire sibling and 10 of your family members you can think of and remember.
  • Make a list of your bestie and 10 other friends that you can think of and remember.
  • Make a list of your mentor and 10 other persons you look up to that also inspires you.
  • Make a list of someone you are most indebted to and 10 other persons that have invested tremendously in your upbringing and career.
Look at the list of all the names you have listed out and start to think about each one of them base on the relationship and experiences you have had with them and discover how your relationship with each and every one of these persons would blossom and rekindle.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!
