The iconic Isiagu (aka Ishi Agu) attire, for men, is usually patterned with lions’ heads embroidered over the clothing. It is a symbol of royalty and strength. It is worn with trousers and can be worn with either a ceremonial titleholder’s hat or with the conventional striped men’s hat known as Okpu Agwu. For women, a puffed-sleeve blouse along with two wrappers and a head tie are worn.
Kenneth Obasi at work painting a typical Igbo chief in the iconic Isiagu (Lion's Head) attire on canvas. The painting was started on the 7th of January 2019 and was finished on the 20th of January 2019 (14 days). It was really a New Year challenge to have accomplished to the glory of God.
