MURDER: Final Year Nekede Poly Student Hacked to death in Imo State

A 25-year old final year Civil Engineering student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, Mr. Innocent Ndukwe has been murdered by three suspected assailants.

According to the State Commissioner of Police Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, the suspects, after slaughtering their victim made away with his Pathfinder SUV with Reg. No. KRD-109AD, two plasma TV sets, one home theatre and assorted personal effects.

Lakanu, who disclosed this to newsmen when he paraded the suspects at the Police headquarters, Owerri said that the police control room, following a report of the gory incident quickly alerted operatives of the command, who immediately spread its dragnet across the entire State.
Said he, “As a result, the assailants who tried to escape the eagle-eyed operatives were subsequently apprehended along West-End old Nekede road, Owerri”.
He said that the late Innocent Ndukwe was found in a pool of his own blood in a toilet at his residence at No.18 Enuwa Street, Egbu in Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.
The Police chief gave the names of the suspects, who he said had confessed to the crime as: David Kwaguru (m) 30 years from Sirwo in Lantan North L.G.A. of Plateau State; Friday Ayuba (m) 28 years, a native of Keyelda in Jos North L.G.A. Plateau State and Francis Amos (m) 23 years, a native of Pingali in Lantan South L.G.A. also in Plateau State.
Our correspondent gathered that Kwaguru was the employed security guard to the deceased. Kwaguru conspired with two of his kinsmen from Plateau and while the late Onwukwe was in his bathroom, the three broke into the bathroom and attacked the deceased with daggers hacking him to death.
The CP however observed that his initiative of directing Area Commanders, DPOs, HODs and other high ranking officer in the State to disseminate their phone numbers to members of the public for effective communication and intelligence-gathering has continued to yield fruits and had assisted the police in clamping down the suspects.

He therefore appealed to members of the public to always be vigilant and circumspect in choosing the people they employ as security guards.
